This incredible yet short trek gives us the best of mountains and traditional Nepali lifestyle. Mardi which lies on the southern side of Annapurna mountain range, and approached with an uphill climb through forest, which is as gruelling as it is refreshing. The sights you come across as soon as you reach the clearing at Badal Daanda is spectacular. The transition from green forests to snowclad mountains just a stone’s throw away is remarkable. Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Annapurna I and of course, the classic facade of Fishtail Mountain or Machhapuchhre are right in front of you. Once above Badal Daanda, you leave the treeline behind, and as impressive a sight ahead, you can get an equally enthralling vista of rolling hills behind you.
Skies are crystal clear, and you can see stars in their millions twinking overhead. You can occasionally spot shooting stars. Well above all the pollution, the night sky at Mardi is truly wonderful. The morning at Mardi High Camp will be equally breathtaking. As the sun rises in the morning, the skies turn purple and orange. You can feel crisp air with every breath, watching the sun come up.
The way back will be quite relaxing as it’s mostly downhill. Witness the local lifestyle of people working in the farms and grazing cattle and so forth. Lazying by Phewa Lake in Pokhara after the trek, reflect on your short and stunning Mardi Himal adventure.

We begin sightseeing today after breakfast. Kathmandu is known for several religious and historical monuments that are worth exploring to understand the culture and country better. Pashupatinath and Boudhanath are two monuments we will visit, both of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Pashupatinath temple complex holds great religious significance for Hindus, and is among the most important pilgrimage sites. Bouddhanath is the largest Buddhist stupa (a dome-shaped monument) in Nepal revered by Buddhists. You can see people circumambulating the stupa en masse below the fluttering prayer flags and Buddha’s eyes above them.
